4 best Claude MCPs & ChatGPT plugins for AI visibility (2026)

AI visibility comes down to one question worth paying for. Are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode building answers from you? And is that improving? These MCPs and plugins put that question inside your AI tool.

Ranked on

  1. First-party grounding Does it answer from accounts you own: Search Console, analytics, ads, logs? Or from a third-party index and modeled estimates?
  2. Governed analyses & statistics Does the server run defined analyses with significance gates? Those gates stop a thin sample reading as a confident answer. Or does it hand your assistant raw rows to assemble and judge itself?
  3. Provenance on every answer Does each answer carry its scope and a freshness date? Can you click back to the source?
  4. Tracked prompt set origin Where did the measured prompts come from? Your own observed demand, or a list someone picked by hand? Check whether you can inspect that set and change it.
  5. Answer engines vs AI Overviews ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini citations are one measurement. Google's on-SERP AI Overviews are another. Check that each comes back with its own metric and surface label.

Our entry is in this list. We publish it, and rank 1 is ours, so read the criteria first and the competitor entries on their own terms. Each is described from its public documentation, with what it does better than us stated where it does.

How this was checked

Verification window
Aug 2 to Aug 8, 2026
Read for every entry
  • each vendor's own product documentation
  • release notes and changelogs
  • published pricing and metering pages
  • documented client-support matrices

If a vendor's own docs don't mention a feature, we mark it "not documented." That's a gap in what's published, not a verdict that the feature is missing. Where their docs contradicted a claim we carried, we changed the claim.

What is in, and what is not

Qualified for this list

  • Reachable as an MCP server today, remote or self-hosted. Vendor documentation had to be fetchable, and it had to name the data source and the metering.
  • It either measures AI answer-engine visibility directly, or supplies the index-scale research an AI-visibility program runs alongside it.

Looked at and left out

  • Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, A separate web add-on priced per month; its endpoints are not listed in the MCP's documented scope.
  • DataForSEO AI Optimization API, DataForSEO does publish an official, open-source MCP server (Apache-2.0, dataforseo/mcp-server-typescript) with an AI Optimization module and an LLM Mentions API. It's one module bolted onto a general-purpose SEO toolkit, SERP, Keywords, Backlinks, Content, Business Data, billed per task on their standard pay-as-you-go API pricing, not scoped as a dedicated AI-visibility product the way the ranked entries above are.
  • Semrush MCP, A strong third-party index, but its documented MCP scope is the SEO API, Trends API and read-only Projects API, which name no AI-answer surface. Semrush's AI-visibility reporting sits in the AI Visibility Toolkit, excluded separately here.

The ranking

  1. 1 Quattr MCP + plugin Ours, bias disclosed

Best for: AI visibility tied to your own demand

58 governed analyses over your first-party data. Governed means pre-built analyses with locked definitions. The same question always computes the same way. AI visibility runs on prompt baskets rather than hand-picked lists. A basket is the tracked set of prompts we test you on, built from your own observed search demand. Those results join crawler logs, rankings and revenue. The crawler-log join is the R1 gate. It is our first readiness check: did an AI crawler actually fetch the page you want cited?

    • Citations and mentions tracked across engines, with competitor gaps. Separates market movement from your own share of it.
    • The R1 gate joins crawler logs to citations. A page an engine never crawled can't be cited.
    • Significance-gated verdicts carry scope, freshness and deep-links. If a source is missing, it refuses and names it.
    • A skills plugin for Claude runtimes, in private beta

    Consider

    • Baskets come from your own observed demand. A brand-new topic with no demand history needs a basket set up first.
    • Reads the accounts you connect. There is no third-party index. AI citations on domains you don't own are out of scope.

Works in: Claude · Claude Code · ChatGPT · Cursor · VS Code · Goose Included with a Quattr subscription. No per-call metering.

  2. 2 Profound MCP

    Best for: AI answer-visibility tracking

Profound's official MCP reads your workspace. AI answer visibility, sentiment and citations come back for tracked prompt categories. Agent Analytics adds AI-crawler and referral traffic. It can also build and run Profound Agents. Those are workflow graphs that combine Profound data with LLM reasoning, code execution and web search. You publish one, then run it on demand. That is action-taking, not just reporting.

    • Up to 9 answer engines tracked on their top plan, per their pricing grid
    • Agent Analytics grounds crawler reporting in real CDN and server-log integrations

    Consider

    • Profound's blog states the MCP is available today for Enterprise customers. Self-serve customers are pointed to a demo instead.
    • Agent Analytics crawler reporting needs a CDN or server-log integration connected first. The documented options: Cloudflare, Fastly, CloudFront, Netlify and the WordPress plugin.
    • Bearer-token authentication for service accounts needs a Profound enterprise plan. It also needs a support request to enable API access.

Works in: Claude · ChatGPT · Cursor · Copilot Studio · Gemini CLI Their blog states the MCP is available for Enterprise customers. Agent runs are metered in credits.

  3. 3 Peec AI MCP

Best for: AI search visibility analytics

Peec AI's official remote MCP exposes your prompt-tracking workspace across eight AI surfaces. It ships 33 read tools and 43 write tools. Seven native MCP prompts come with it. Prompts are ready-made analysis workflows your AI client offers as slash commands. Every metric drills down to the chats and cited URLs behind it.

    • Included on all paid plans at no extra cost
    • Provenance down to the scraped markdown an engine actually read

    Consider

    • Write tools require organization-owner access on the project. Any project member can use the read tools.
    • Coverage follows the prompt set you maintain. You create and edit prompts through the write tools. They are not derived from observed demand.
    • The separate Peec Customer API is documented for Enterprise customers only. Its limit is 200 requests per minute per project.

Works in: Claude · Cursor · VS Code · Windsurf OAuth 2.0 or personal access tokens. The rate limit is 1,000 calls per minute.

  4. 4 Ahrefs MCP

Best for: AI citations beside your own Search Console

Ahrefs' hosted MCP exposes their API as selectable tool groups. Brand Radar is the AI-visibility one. It covers cited pages, cited domains and the AI answers themselves. Coverage runs across six chatbots plus Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode. Your connected Search Console sits in the same server.

    • Six chatbots plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Each is a separate data_source value on the AI-visibility endpoints.
    • The AI-citation data and your own projects share one server. That includes your connected Search Console and Web Analytics.

    Consider

    • AI citations come from Ahrefs' own index, not your accounts. The attached demand figure is a modelled estimate. It takes Google volume and adjusts it per AI platform.
    • The prompt set is readable through the MCP. Creating or deleting a Brand Radar prompt is not. Those endpoints are documented as API-only.
    • You can query any brand, including Claude, directly by name against Ahrefs' default index without a report. A report_id is only needed to reuse a saved Brand Radar report's competitors, market and filters instead of supplying them yourself.

Works in: Claude · Claude Code · ChatGPT · Copilot Studio · n8n Paid plans from Lite up. Metered in shared API units, minimum 50 per billable call.

Side by side

Every entry against the same five criteria. Not documented means the vendor's own material does not address it, a gap in what is published, not a judgement about what the product can do.

Product First-party groundingGoverned analyses & statisticsProvenance on every answerTracked prompt set originAnswer engines vs AI Overviews
Quattr MCP + plugin AI visibility tied to your own demand Connected accounts only, no third-party index for domains you don't own. Governed and fixed, significance-gated verdicts, not arbitrary queries. Scope and freshness on every answer, refuses naming the missing source. Generated from your observed demand, a new topic needs a basket first. Reported separately, answer-engine citations distinct from Google AI Overviews inclusion.
Profound MCP AI answer-visibility tracking Your Profound workspace, Agent Analytics needs a CDN or server-log integration connected. Fixed v2 report endpoints, visibility, citations, sentiment, fanouts, factcheck. Citation reports plus raw data access, underlying answers retrievable via Get Answers. Customer-configured prompts per category; create, tag and disable documented Google AI Overviews listed beside ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini; per-model filter
Peec AI MCP AI search visibility analytics Your Peec project workspace, brands, prompts, chats, reports and Agent Analytics. Fixed read tools, projects, brands, prompts, chats, reports, scraped source content. Drill to the chats and scraped source content an engine actually read. Prompts you maintain, created, updated and archived through the write tools. Named individually, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode listed apart from chat engines.
Ahrefs MCP AI citations beside your own Search Console Ahrefs' own index for AI citations, your connected Search Console sits in the same server. Fixed tool groups selected by URL parameter, statistical verdicts not documented. AI Responses rows carry the question, the model's answer, the links it used and a last_updated date. Ahrefs' default index by brand name, or a saved report's custom prompts, creating new custom prompts is API-only, not MCP. Separate data_source values, AI Overviews and AI Mode apart from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

Self-hosted servers, and why they are not ranked

There is a fifth route here, and it is not a product. You can run an open-source MCP server yourself, against API keys you already pay for. No vendor in the middle. Three projects give the shape of the class. AutomateLab's citation-intelligence (github.com/AutomateLab-tech/citation-intelligence, MIT) fans one query across several engines. It returns a per-URL view of which of them cited you. thein-art's mcp-server-peecai (github.com/thein-art/mcp-server-peecai, MIT) is a single-maintainer wrapper around the Peec AI API. It reads the same workspace as the Peec AI MCP ranked fourth above. Ansvisor (github.com/ansvisor/ansvisor, MIT, copyright Empler AI Inc.) is a full open-source AI visibility platform. Host it yourself, or buy it as a managed cloud. Its MCP endpoint is newer than the platform around it.

Self-hosting is the right call in three situations. You want prompts and results to stay inside infrastructure you control. Your budget is an API bill, not a seat licence. Or you need one narrow capability and nothing more. Read the code and confirm that is all it does. One situation decides itself. Nothing commercial covers the surface you care about, so this is the only route left.

What it costs you is ownership. You host the server. You hold the keys. You take the upgrade when an engine changes its API. When something breaks, you are the support channel. Per-prompt spend lands on your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity or SerpAPI billing, not a subscription line. Licences and maintenance vary sharply between projects. A repository with no tagged releases gives you nothing to pin a deployment to.

That variation is why the class sits outside the table. The five criteria above ask what a publisher documents. A set of independent repositories has no single doc set to answer from. Two of these three projects would answer the provenance question very differently. One row would have averaged them into a number that is true of neither. So settle write scope before you connect anything. mcp-server-peecai ships its write tools disabled behind an environment flag. Its own README calls the deletes irreversible through the API. That is the pattern to look for. Read the tool list first, every time. Verbs like create, update and delete tell you what a server can actually do. A README that says nothing about write scope has not promised you read-only, and you cannot tell from the outside.

Test one of these in an afternoon

  1. Connect one server. Then ask for your citation rate on ChatGPT and Perplexity last month.
  2. Ask where the tracked prompts came from. Your own observed demand? Or a list someone picked by hand?
  3. A usable answer names the engine and the prompt set. It dates the data. It links back to the source report.
  4. Then ask for something it cannot have: a competitor's Search Console. A refusal that names the missing source beats a plausible number.

Anticipated questions

Is this list biased?
Yes. It's Quattr's site and Quattr ranks first. That's why the bias sits at the top of the page. The criteria are stated. Every third-party claim is verified against public documentation, with a date. Judge the criteria, not our word.
Do these work in ChatGPT as well as Claude?
Every ranked remote MCP here supports both. Each entry's 'works in' line has the detail. Skill layers differ. Quattr's skills plugin, in private beta, installs in Claude runtimes with prompt packs covering ChatGPT.
What's the difference between AI visibility and AI Overviews?
Two different surfaces, never conflated. Answer-engine citations measure whether ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini build answers from you. AI Overviews are an on-SERP Google feature with their own show-rate metrics. A good tool reports the two separately.

Change history

  1. Aug 19, 2026 Corrected two claims found in fact-audit review. Ahrefs MCP: the Brand Radar report_id parameter is optional, not required, on basic brand queries. You can query any brand, including Claude, directly by name and data source without a saved report; report_id is only needed to reuse a saved report's competitors, market and filters. The considerations and side-by-side table cell were rewritten. DataForSEO AI Optimization API: the exclusion reason was wrong. DataForSEO does publish an official, open-source MCP server (Apache-2.0, dataforseo/mcp-server-typescript) with an AI Optimization module; it was excluded on a false 'no MCP server documented' claim. It stays excluded here, but on the true reason: that module is one of several bolted onto a general-purpose SEO toolkit, billed per task, not the dedicated AI-visibility product this list ranks on.
  2. Aug 17, 2026 Re-verified every documentation claim against each vendor's current material and corrected 1 where their own docs contradicted us (Profound MCP). Each correction credits a capability we had marked absent. Moved community and self-hosted servers out of the scored table: a category has no single documentation set, so per-criterion scoring could not be true or false. The class is now covered in prose, and the ranked count drops to four. Replaced Semrush MCP with Ahrefs MCP. Semrush's MCP documents no AI-answer surface, so it moves to the exclusions beside its own AI Visibility Toolkit; Ahrefs documents Brand Radar AI-visibility endpoints and is ranked on them. Rewrote the prose for readability against the house voice guide. No ranking, criterion or verified claim changed in that pass.
  3. Aug 9, 2026 Published the Profound MCP and Peec AI MCP write-ups, verified against their official documentation. All five entries on this list are now complete.
  4. Aug 8, 2026 Re-verified every written entry against vendor documentation. Added documented considerations to each one including our own, ranking criteria specific to this list with a definition apiece, the verification window and sources, inclusion criteria, and a side-by-side table.
  5. Aug 2, 2026 First publication of the twelve lists.
