Quattr MCP vs Semrush MCP

Both put search data in your AI tool. The difference is the job: Semrush MCP pipes their third-party index into your agent; Quattr MCP is the control plane for your own search program, first-party ground truth plus daily AI, SERP and crawl observation, statistics-gated.

Pick Quattr MCP when

You run the search program and need decisions from your own data, analyzed, significance-checked, and tied to revenue.

The control plane for your search program: your GSC, GA4/Adobe, Google Ads and logs, plus Quattr's own daily AI-surface, SERP and crawl observation, 58 governed analyses, statistics-gated, deep-linked.

Pick Semrush MCP when

You need index-scale research, keywords, backlinks, traffic estimates, on domains you don't own.

Their index, piped to your agent. Semrush's official remote MCP exposes their public APIs, keyword, traffic, backlink and market estimates from the Semrush index, to AI clients over OAuth 2.1.

Where this gets hard

Three situations that come up whichever server you run, what makes each awkward, and where it lands here.

  1. Was that move real, or is it noise?

Index estimates model a market rather than record your traffic, so a swing in the rows and a shift in your own traffic arrive looking identical.

Quattr MCPTests the change against your own GSC series with a significance gate at α = 0.05, and returns "not significant" when the test says so.

  2. The question crosses paid and organic.

Keyword, backlink and traffic estimates describe the market. What a page actually earned, what it converted, and what you paid for the same term live in GSC, GA4 and Google Ads.

Quattr MCPJoins those four sources in one governed analysis, so the same term reads as one answer instead of three exports reconciled by hand.

  3. Your agent is composing the analysis.

An API surface returns rows. Which endpoint to call, how to filter it, and what the numbers mean are left to the assistant to get right on every run.

Quattr MCPShips 58 governed analyses with resolve-before-filter discipline, routed automatically, about 96% of real questions never name a tool.

If you run both: which MCP for which question

Routing rules an agent can follow verbatim, paste them into your agent's instructions. Three principles, then the table: availability first, Quattr's describe_data_sources reports which of your sources are configured, and a source that's off routes to whichever connected MCP covers it. Ownership, "our/my" questions route to first-party ground truth; named external domains route to an index. Cost, per-call-metered MCPs get deliberate routing; Quattr MCP is included with a subscription, so exploratory load is free to send there.

The questionRoute toWhy
"How are our clicks, conversions or spend doing?" Quattr MCP Reads your GSC, GA4/Adobe and Google Ads, your ground truth, not estimates.
"What does a domain we don't own rank for?" Semrush MCP Index-scale keyword and rank data on any domain; Quattr doesn't index arbitrary domains.
"Backlink profile of a prospect or competitor" Semrush MCP The Semrush link index; Quattr has no backlink database.
"Is this week's drop real or noise?" Quattr MCP Significance-gated verdicts are built in.
"Are AI answers citing us, and did it matter?" Quattr MCP Daily AI-surface monitoring joined to your traffic and revenue.
"Size a market or estimate a rival's traffic" Semrush MCP Panel and index estimates are the right instrument for domains you don't own.

Metering matters to routing: Semrush MCP consumes API units per call; Quattr MCP is included with a subscription, so exploratory own-program questions are free to route there.

Side by side

DimensionQuattr MCPSemrush MCP
Whose data answers Very different Yours, GSC (incl. BigQuery), GA4/Adobe named goals, Google Ads, Cloudflare logs, tracked search market share & AI visibility, concierge-onboarded. The Semrush index, keyword, traffic, backlink and market estimates for any domain (third-party panel & crawl data).
Analysis layer Very different 58 governed analyses with resolve-before-filter discipline, routed automatically, ~96% of real questions never name a tool. An API tool surface over the Trends & Standard APIs, your agent composes the queries and interprets the rows.
Business context Very different Taxonomy engine: your categories, intents, and named goals, the analysis spine speaks your business language. Semrush databases and categories, not your business taxonomy or named goals.
Statistical rigor Very different Significance gates (α = 0.05), holdout designs, growth-vs-share decomposition; refuses causal claims from trend lines. Interpretation and significance are left to the agent, the API surface returns data; no significance layer documented.
Answer format Different Interactive cards with scope chips, ⚠ Observational, freshness, and deep-links into Quattr; refuses with the reason when a source is missing. Data responses in chat; no documented card anatomy, scope echo, or provenance chrome.
Knowledge layer Different 39-skill plugin (private beta) + the Quattr Method, saved expert workflows the assistant follows. Official ChatGPT app and broad client support; no documented skills library.
Auth & safety Similar OAuth 2.1, read-only quattr:read scope, sessions bound to your org with company_name verification. OAuth 2.1 on the official remote server (API key flows by plan).
Metering Different Included with a Quattr subscription, fair-use limits, no per-call metering. Consumes API units from a Semrush API subscription (SEO Business or Trends plans); paid-only.

Reading the marks: they size the distance between the two columns as we read it, our characterisation of the gap, not a rating of Semrush MCP. Rows their documentation does not describe are marked Not comparable rather than counted as a difference.

Every Semrush MCP cell is read from their public documentation ↗ as of Aug 2, 2026.

Where Semrush MCP is strong

  • The industry's broadest third-party index, volumes, backlinks, and traffic estimates for domains you don't own.
  • A mature, well-documented API surface with wide official client support (Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code).
  • The right tool for index-scale market research on competitors' properties.

The same question, both ways

"How's search doing this week, and does it matter?"

One governed pulse: your GSC clicks, your CTR-modeled share of tracked demand, your AI citation rate, significance-gated verdict, scope and freshness stamped, deep-link into your Quattr account.

"How's search doing this week, and does it matter?"

With Semrush MCP

Index estimates for whichever domains you name, trend rows your agent must assemble and judge itself; your own GSC/GA4 ground truth isn't the source.

Bottom line Different jobs. If you need index-scale research on domains you don't own, Semrush MCP is good at exactly that. If you need trustworthy answers about your own search program, with your data, your taxonomy, and a statistical bar, that's Quattr MCP. Plenty of teams run both.

Anticipated questions

What actually matters when comparing MCP servers like these?
Five questions, and the rows above are the evidence for each. Whose data answers: your own accounts, the vendor's workspace, or a third-party index? Who does the analysis: governed analyses, or raw rows your assistant must assemble and judge itself, the place confident-but-wrong conclusions come from? Will it say when it isn't sure: significance gates and refusals that say why, or deltas the model eyeballs? What's the blast radius: read-only scopes, or write tools and credentials that can spend and change things? And what does a question cost: assistants make many tool calls per answer, so metering matters more than it did for dashboards. Score both columns on those five, engine counts and tool counts answer none of them. (Evaluating the platform behind a connector is a different exercise; Quattr's published GEO framework at quattr.com/blog/top-geo-platforms-compared covers that one.)
Can I run both at once?
Yes, and many teams should. Connect both MCPs in the same client; your assistant will use the index for market research on domains you don't own and Quattr for governed answers about your own program. They don't conflict.
Doesn't Quattr have market data too?
Quattr tracks CTR-modeled search market share of tracked demand, competitive standing computed from your first-party demand, always labeled directional. It is not a third-party index of arbitrary domains; for index-scale research on properties you don't own, an index tool is the right instrument.
Do I need an API subscription for Quattr MCP?
No. The Quattr MCP is included with a Quattr subscription, fair-use limits, no per-call metering. Semrush MCP consumes API units from a Semrush API subscription per their documentation.
Will the assistant confuse the two data sources?
Quattr's server instructions tell the assistant to answer questions about YOUR site from Quattr's governed tools, and every result is stamped with your company name. Index questions about other domains naturally route to the index tool.

  • Quattr has helped us look at visibility in a practical way — instead of just showing where we appear, it ties the data with GA4 and Search Console.
